Thomas the Tank Engine is about to get a very international feel with 14 new characters joining the show from across the globe.
With many parents thinking the long-running show is a bad example for their kids, the new additions are meant to represent the constantly evolving cultural diversities we see in our society.
The talking train franchise has an expected earning of over £500 million which makes it one of the largest of any toy range in the world.
While Mattel intentions seem to be good, this won’t stop the hate they are bound to receive from the mass amount of parents who simply don’t like the show and what it promotes.
Many parents have criticised the show (which turned 70 this year) for being sexist, negative and encouraging bad behaviours amongst kids.
But let’s see who we’ll be introduced to in this straight-to-DVD movie The Great Race:
Vinnie from Canada
Yong Bao from China
Frieda from Germany
Raul from Brazil
Ivan from Russia
Axel from Belgium
Ashima from India
Carlos from Mexico
No doubt, despite those who have made their feelings clear on Thomas and his friends, the movie will be another hit for the toy makers.
