With spring just around the corner (rejoice!) we’re distracting ourselves from the awful weather by preparing our new-season wardrobes. We don’t know about you, but we are in need of a major wardrobe revamp, and we’re starting by checking out the trends that are set to reign this coming spring.
First up, it’s the patterns and prints that are hot for SS 2015, and the good thing is that you probably already have some of these stored away in that bottom drawer.
1. Stripes
There’s a reason why stripes are referred to as a classic – they are timeless, versatile, and instantly transform any outfit. From your staple black- or navy-and-white combinations, to something a bit more colourful, your stripes are your go-to piece this season. Team with your favourite casual denims or smart white trousers for a classically chic look, or take things up a notch by clashing with another print, or taking on the sports luxe trend.
2. Gingham
We know, we know; the very thought of gingham draws up all sorts of awful images of cowboy hats and daisy dukes. Put that visual out of your mind right now, because not only is gingham one of the prettiest patterns this season, but it is also so wearable. Start small by switching up your white shirt for a gingham number in a lemon or light blue hue, teaming with your navy skirts and trousers – we guarantee you will love this look.
3. Bright blooms
Floral is the perennial spring classic, bursting into the high street to coat our wardrobes and daily looks in colour and cheer. This season, the bolder the better; and if the thought of oversized or graphic print florals is a little intimidating, remember to always start basic, and experiment. Balancing a bright print with a muted or neutral colour block piece will always strike the right style chord.
