A little girl who was born at just 23 weeks is thought to be the youngest person EVER to survive major abdominal surgery.
Abiageal Peters was born four months early in St. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, after her mum Louise went into premature labour last October, according to ITV.
Tiny Abiageal, who weighed just 1.3lbs, needed a special operation to treat a serious condition of the gut called perforated necrotising enterocolitis.
This condition often affects premature babies and causes intestinal tissue to become damaged and die.
Abiageal was transferred to the neonatal ward of St George's Hospital, in South London, where the incredible operation took place.
She was just six days old at the time.
Despite the odds, Abiageal survived the complicated surgery.
Mum Louise said she and her husband David agreed to the operation, despite the risks.
"We knew she wouldn't survive without it," she explained.
"After she'd gone into theatre, Dave and I sat in a room for what was probably the longest three hours of our lives, waiting for the surgical team to tell us the outcome.
"When the door opened and one of the surgeons came into the room, we just looked at his face without hearing the words and we knew - she was OK."
Little Abiageal remained in intensive care after the operation, but is now at home and got to celebrate her original due date "birthday", on February 19.
Louise says: "She truly is our little miracle."
