A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a woman in Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
The mother-of-three, who was stabbed in her south Co. Dublin home yesterday, was taken to St. Vincent's hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after.
Jane Braidwood, who worked as mental health professional, was assaulted in a house in Clarinda Park East at around 5pm yesterday evening and was said to have sustained multiple stab wounds.
The victim's daughter raised the alarm, but when a passerby attempted to intervene, he too sustained injuries.
It is believed that the suspect was known to the 65-year-old widow and was arrested at the scene of the crime under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
