Last week, a preview of the next episode of Kim Kardashian’s reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, showed the star being delivered some devastating news: due to complications from her first pregnancy, her second child could be her last.
Now, with the airing of the episode over the weekend, the extent of Kim’s troubles have been revealed onscreen.
The 34-year-old appeared visibly upset as she was informed by doctors that she may now need to consider surrogacy if she wants to have more children.
Kim received the news as she went into hospital to undergo surgery to remove parts of her placenta that were still attached to her uterus since daughter North’s birth.
A fertility doctor was seen telling Kim: “You can still get pregnant but it does expose you to risks during the pregnancy. Surrogacy is the only way to give you a nice, healthy pregnancy and a nice healthy baby.”
A clearly distressed Kim shared her shock with her family, saying: “Surrogacy is really scary for me, I don’t want one. I don’t want that to be my reality.”
Describing surrogacy as her “last resort”, the mother-of-one added: “I wouldn’t dare ask anyone to do this for me. It freaks me out. What if they’re a lunatic, what if they run off with my baby? I can’t do it, I just can’t.”
