Stories of attempted abductions of newborns are sadly all too common, but thanks to one eagle-eyed relative, tragedy was averted in the following report.
A woman who disguised herself as a nurse and attempted to kidnap a newborn was caught red-handed by the child’s grandmother.
The unidentified woman reportedly entered a hospital in China’s Sichuan Province, and climbed the six floors to where the child was unattended in its bed.
Dressed up in a nurse’s uniform, the woman proceeded to place the baby in a bassinet and head towards the hospital exit. It was then, as she went to leave, that the 'nurse' ran into the baby’s grandmother.
Suspicious over the circumstances, the grandmother asked the 'nurse' of her ‘intentions’ towards the child and accompanied her back upstairs in a lift along with the baby.
Security was alerted, and the ‘nurse’ was revealed to be an imposter. She was later arrested for the attempted kidnap of the newborn.
Thank heavens for this grandmother, for stopping this woman and being extra cautious over the unusual run-in.
